Weight management

Weight Matters is now a part of the Healthy Weight Programme based at The Health Promotion Service. We work with people of all ages throughout Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly to promote healthy weight.

We offer a wide range of programmes aimed at increasing awareness of why we should be a healthy weight and provide practical opportunities to get people motivated to make positive lifestyle changes.

 

12 week programme

Take the 12 week programme

Do you suffer with type 2 diabetes, high cholesterol, high blood pressure or other weight related issues? This programme is most suitable for people who are either overweight or obese. It is a 12 week programme looking at nutrition, physical activity and behaviour change, aimed at providing skills, knowledge and confidence to help you manage your weight more effectively. Weight management on referral

GPs can refer their patients to Weight Watchers or Slimming World for 12 weeks of weight management support. Patients interested in being referred should enquire about the scheme at their own GP practices. Medical professionals can find out more in the Professional Zone

 

LEAF early years programme

The LEAF programme focuses on obesity in the 0-6 year old age group. We explore topics to help manage children’s weight; these include balanced nutrition, healthy foods, food labelling, internal and external triggers, behaviour change, routine and activity. After the programme finishes families are supported closer to home by health visitors or school nurses. Read more about LEAF 

MEND programme for 7-13

Obesity is one of the most serious health epidemics facing our society today with 1 in 3 children currently overweight or obese in the UK. MEND (Mind, Exercise, Nutrition, Do it) is a 10 week programme aimed at children aged 7 - 13 years old who are overweight or obese. The programme will focus on the whole family making changes. Find out more about MEND.
